Quasem Foundation is a firm believer of charity must begins at one's own home. The organization was founded by and is named after the Quasem family who call Ulipur and northan Bangladesh home. The family was run,part funded and maintained the organization since it was estabilished and have a commitement to helping the poor people of their home town that extends through four generations. Although many of the family no longer rside in Ulipur,through the activities of Quasem Foundation, they have highlighted their unwavering dedication to serve the people of their home town that are less fourtunate.
Quasem Foundation is an organozation dedicated to improving the lives of the improvished people of northen Bangladesh,extending charity where it is most lacking.
Founded in 1958, Quasem Foundation began its operations in Ulipur, the home town of Abul Quasem, its founder and head of the Quasem family who has overseen the management of the foundation form its inception.
Through the implementation of focused and comprehensive projects, the foundation has grown in both its reach and its reputation over the last six decades to a point where it now serves not only Ulipur but the entire Rangpur districts and even other parts of Northern Bangladesh. There are even cases of people comimg form the capital city of Dhaka to avail the sincere, very resonably priced, yet high quality services that Quasem Foundation provides.
Estabilished in 1994, the Marium Eye Hospital is the largest and flagship project of Quasem Foundation. Since its foundation, the Marium Eye Hospital has been working with the Royal Commonwelth Society for Blind(RCSB) and Sightsavers to provide'' Comprehensive Eye Care''(CEC) and ''Community based Rehabilitation'' (CBR) to its target population. Lack of helth care resources, poor nutrition and various diseases cotribute to high rate of blindness in Bangladesh. Through its various initiatives, Quasem Foundation has been an organization at the forefront in the battle against eye related health issuses in Bangladesh and stand as a beacon of outstanding service,success and dedication. The aim of the Hospital since its estabilishment has been to eradicate curable blindness among the people of Ulipur and greater Rangpur. The 47,500 square foot premises started with a 50 bed hospital which has since been expanded to a 100 bed hospital and is equipped to perform a number of eye-related medical procedures. Currently, the hospitals provides treatment to about 350 outpatients per day, with more serious patients reffered to on site specialist for further treatment, the hospital also provides avenuse of support for those they can not treat internally. On an average, Marium Eye Hospital performs 35-40 cataracts as well as around 10 other types of eye operations per day. Additionaly , we provide refraction services and spectacles for about 100 patients per day.
